Mattresses of any size can be taken to any Waste and Recycling Centre for recycling (fees apply).
1.8 million mattresses are thrown away each year - mattresses are recycled at specialised recyclers, with metal recovered for scrap metal, mattress stuffing and foam is recycled into carpet underlay and wooden bases are chipped into wood chip.
