HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL CLEANOUT DATES CONFIRMED FOR 2026 Got old paint, household cleaners, pesticides, batteries or other unwanted chemicals at home? Bega Valley Shire Council's Household Chemical CleanOut is returning in October 2026, providing residents with a free and safe way to dispose of common household chemicals. 2026 COLLECTION DATES AND LOCATIONS EDEN WASTE AND RECYCLING CENTRE Princes Highway, Eden Saturday 17 October 2026 8.00am to 11.00am PAMBULA Merimbula Street car park (behind the shops) Saturday 17 October 2026 1.00pm to 4.00pm BEGA SALEYARDS Kerrisons Lane, Bega Sunday 18 October 2026 8.00am to 11.00am BERMAGUI WASTE AND RECYCLING CENTRE Strudwicks Road, Bermagui Sunday 18 October 2026 1.00pm to 4.00pm WHAT IS HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL CLEANOUT? The Household Chemical CleanOut program allows residents to safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals free of charge. ACCEPTED ITEMS Residents can drop off: * Garden chemicals * Pool chemicals * Household cleaners * Hobby chemicals * Poisons * Batteries* * Paint* * Motor oils, fluids and fuels* * Fluorescent lights* * Gas bottles* * Fire extinguishers* * Smoke detectors* IMPORTANT INFORMATION * Only household quantities are accepted. * The maximum quantity accepted is 20 litres or 20 kilograms per item, except for paint. * Up to 100 litres of paint will be accepted, provided it is in containers of 20 litres or less. * Trade painters may also drop off up to 100 litres of paint through the Paintback program. YEAR-ROUND RECYCLING OPTIONS Items marked with an asterisk (*) can be dropped off free of charge throughout the year at the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) located at the Merimbula Waste and Recycling Centre, during normal opening hours.
The Mobile Community Recycling Centre is at the WALLAGOOT Waste and Recycling Centre this August! Got problem waste at home? Residents can drop off household quantities (up to 20L or 20kg) of the following items FREE of charge at the Mobile CRC: * Small batteries * Water and oil-based paint * Gas bottles * Fire extinguishers * Smoke detectors * Cooking oils * Fluorescent globes and tubes Important: These items can only be accepted at the Wallagoot Waste and Recycling Centre while the Mobile CRC is on-site and during the facility's normal opening hours. If you need to dispose of problem waste outside these times, please store it safely and bring it back when the Mobile CRC returns, or visit the Merimbula Waste and Recycling Centre CRC during its regular operating hours. The CRC and Mobile CRC are available for residential use only. Businesses are not eligible to use these services, and commercial quantities of waste cannot be accepted.
