Community Recycling Centre
Batteries (Household)
Household batteries can be taken to the Merimbula Waste and Recycling Centre for disposal in the Community Recycling Centre (CRC), to the Mobile CRC and to a Community Recycling Station
(CRS) at any Council Library (no lithium batteries can be
accepted at the Libraries) where they are sent away for recycling at specialised
facilities. Check the table below for more details.
They DO NOT go in your recycling, FOGO or rubbish bin - they pose a serious risk
of fires in the garbage trucks and at landfill sites.
Household batteries contain recyclable materials and can be recycled through
specialised battery recycling programs and via the CRC.
A national recycling initiative, B-Cycle, has also partnered with big
retailers to make battery recycling easier. You can recycle accepted batteries
at most Woolworths, Aldi and Coles stores in the Bega Valley for free. Find a
B-Cycle location here.
